The number of passengers of long distance bus transport amounted to 694.953.000 travelers in 2018, representing an increase of 2,6% compared to 2017.

Within the long-distance transport bus, commuter trips grew 3% and the average distance 2%. And, although the long distance decreased in the overall calculation of the year, recorded positive figures in the last quarter of 2018. In addition, the total number of passengers transported in intercity bus in 2018 outperformed the railway, most demanded placing it as a mode of long distance transportation.

Discretionary transport has  increased by 6,4%, with 204 million travelers, and the special (school and work) recorded nearly 315 million travelers, 2,5% more than in 2017.

From the management point to consolidate this improvement, so it is essential to count with the support of the Administration, just as they have had with other means of transports. “We have been requesting the administrations a greater equity in investments directed to our industry, comparing them to other means of transport, such as rail”.

In this sense, and among the main demands of the Confederation taht consolidates this recovery, is the creation of a comprehensive mobility policy that covers all models together  in a balanced way and what it boosts the suffle bus with a plan against depopulation. At the same time, CONFEBUS underlines the character of the bus as the bacbone of the country.

Barbadillo also remembers that on the Plenary session of European Parliament ratified the suitability of the Spanish Bus Model.

Acording to the statistis of the DGT, bus is the savest mean of tranport on the road. It is a essential element to achieve a more sustainable mobility, it contributes to the reduction of the CO2 and the particles broadcasted to the atmosphere, apart from improving the flow of vehicles and the pollution of cities and roads, since a bus can replace betweem 14-30 private vehicles.
